  72. CONTRACT BRIDGE, consisting of BRIDGE.EXE and BRIDGE.DOC, is a DOS
  73. program that bids, plays and scores rubber matches of the card game
  74. Contract Bridge. It requires a color text monitor. Mouse support is
  75. included. The program provides such options as entering hands from the
  76. keyboard and bidding customization. In the registered version you can
  77. save hands to disk, and generate reports on individual contracts.

  79. You will always bid the SOUTH hand. If NORTH-SOUTH are declarers, you
  80. will play both hands. Standard bidding conventions are used. You can
  81. enter your own bids, or press ENTER to have the computer bid for you.
  82. Press [?] to see an estimate of the best contract. Play of the hand
  83. includes a hint key [?] and an undo key [U]. Again, you can play the
  84. hand(s) yourself, or press ENTER to have the computer play for you.

  86. CONTRACT BRIDGE is ideal for recreational players who enjoy informal
  87. games of Rubber Bridge. Most players should find themselves both
  88. challenged and entertained by the program. Although CONTRACT BRIDGE is
  89. not a tutorial on how to play Bridge, it is quite possible to learn to
  90. play the game using the program and a good book on Bridge.

  109. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTE TO HARD DRIVE

  111. To install from diskette, you need to perform the following steps.
  112.  
  113.    1) Place the CONTRACT BRIDGE distribution diskette in the appropriate
  114.       diskette drive.
  115.  
  116.    2) Copy *.* from the distribution disk to a directory of your
  117.       choosing on your hard drive.
  118.  
  119.    3) Change to the directory where you installed the program and
  120.       type BRIDGE at the DOS prompt to run the program.
  121.  
  122.    4) NOTE: You can use the README program to review the DOC, TXT
  123.       and ORD documentation files that come with the program. A
  124.       versatile Text Editor, READ, comes with the registered version.

  126. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE

  128. If you downloaded CONTRACT BRIDGE from a BBS (or received it in the form
  129. of archive files from some other source), you will need to perform the
  130. following steps.

  132.    1) Extract the contents of the archive file in a diretcory of
  133.       your choosing on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  134.       varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
  135.       If you don't have the tools and knowledge to perform this step,
  136.       you should be able to obtain directions from the same source
  137.       from which you received the package.

  139.    2) Type BRIDGE at the DOS prompt to run the program.

  148. hand has been played, you can return to the main menu, review the
